Imagine a cancer free world…
The truth is, we could get halfway there right now.
Today it is estimated that we could prevent 40% of cancer
— so why don’t we?
I believe cancer prevention is preferable to cure.
I’m a women’s cancer surgeon,
who loves being in the operating room,
but I’d rather you not be there with me!
Instead, join me here on my podcast “It’s Time You Knew”
so that you never have to meet me in the operating room.
My name is Valena Wright.
I’m a Board-Certified Gynecologic Oncologist,
with more than 25 years of clinical practice,
including teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
I know the challenge of women’s cancers,
especially ovarian cancer,
which has no screening test
and can be difficult to diagnose.
And I know them not only in my professional life,
but personally, as a sister.
My new book, “It’s Time You Knew,
The Power of Choices to Prevent Women’s Cancer”
was inspired by my own family’s story.
And now, in my podcast, “It’s Time You Knew,”
we will learn how to get one step closer
to a cancer-free world.
As patients and health care providers,
it’s important that we know the scientific facts,
and take action.
We will learn:
the wellness tips that reduce your cancer risk,
the important screening tests to prevent cancer,
and the symptoms you should never ignore.
In this podcast, you’ll hear my older sister Debbie’s story,
and learn how her diagnosis
saved my younger sister Shirley’s life.
I invite you to learn
from the real-life stories
of women I have had the privilege
to know and care for
during a time
when they were facing one of their greatest fears
– a cancer diagnosis.
We will dive in and ask the difficult questions
– even if we feel embarrassed or fearful of the answers.
We will learn from women
who recognized something was wrong
and made the life-saving choice to seek medical care.
By listening to and learning from these stories,
we will become empowered advocates for our own health
and learn how to take action
to prevent these challenges from becoming our own.
Join me, Valena Wright, as we have essential conversations
that will empower you to make choices
that can change and even save your life
and the lives of those you love.
Let’s eliminate preventable women’s cancer.
Together, let’s have those tough conversations
that normally occur behind closed doors
— conversations that too often happen too late.
It’s time you knew.
Let’s achieve our best health now.
